Publisher's Description

Food is like love to me; the love we dream about, the love we give and the love we receive. Love memories that sustain and nourish more than our bellies. Cooking began as a way to bring me closer to home and closer to memories of my mother, because feeding her family was the way she spoke her love. The scent of certain foods I knew as a boy are olfactory recollections that fondly transport me back to her kitchen where I would linger in anticipation and excitement.

Let me be honest with you – I am not a chef, and this is not a traditional cookbook. The recipes are personal and perhaps naive, but over the years they have allowed me to express myself and share my joy of cooking with loved ones.

More importantly, this book is about expressing love by sharing inspiration.

So I asked my friend Viviane Sassen, a kindred spirit, to take this journey with me. Her art is a continuous source of discovery. Her photographs transport me to places that I dream about and long to return to – they help me to be present in these quietly powerful and profound moments of real life. To put it simply, she inspires me in every way and I am so proud of what we have made together: a conversation between two friends, a desire to share love, a manifestation of both worlds intertwined, and all the things that nourish us.

It’s my hope that you will enjoy what this book brings you – the personal pilgrimage contained in each recipe, in each photograph, each memory. This process has been an opening of my heart and a reminder to keep taking leaps of faith, because here in the unknown, is often where we find the next steps.

So take your time, make it your own, make beautiful love memories. All I hope is that you enjoy the journey.'
